How to Create Your Best Backyard…On A Budget!

How to Create Your Best Backyard…On A Budget!

There’s one thing that many homeowners ultimately consider when decorating a home—how to create the perfect backyard. With the right size and conditions, the options can be literally endless. A homemade bar in the backyard, complete with wooden chairs and a firepit? A large garden, full of flowers and vegetables you can pick straight off of the vine? With the right budget and the right mindset, you can easily create a space that will be the envy of your neighbours.

The Perfect Patio

A great backyard isn’t restricted to just homes. Many apartments and condos have some sort of balcony or patio space attached to the property. Make the most of your area. If you’re in a smaller spot, there are still plenty of ways to spruce up your surroundings. Some popular patio designs include:

  • Small coloured or white Christmas lights strung around the railing and roof.
  • Large carpets to fill the space and allow you some comfort.
  • Portraits, paintings, and Buddha statues to help bring about a sense of culture.
  • Tasselled pillows and small chairs to sit with friends and family.
  • A small bar table—either complete with your favourite cocktail ingredients or turned into a small garden with a lot of small, potted plants.

Your patio may not be as large as a backyard, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy luxury and privacy in your own outdoor space!

Ideas for Larger Backyard Spaces

People with large backyards often have a great amount of space for a wonderful area but aren’t quite sure what to do with them.

Trees in your backyard can give you different options. You could string up a hammock between two trees for the ultimate afternoon relaxation. If you’re a crafty individual, you could even grab a toolset and build your own treehouse.

Large areas of grass give you plenty of ways to get creative as well. A popular choice with kids is setting up two goals for a family game of football or rugby. This is a cheap and easy option that really doesn’t require much. Alternatively, if you have a green thumb and enjoy cooking, this would be an excellent plot of land to make a garden. The beginning stages require some hard work and effort, but the pay-off is certainly worth it.

With the right mindset and attitude, you can easily have the backyard of your dreams.
